Phil Appleton works with SpokenWord as a communications skills coach, facilitator, presenter and business actor. He also runs coaching sessions in both private industry and the public sector and advises on the use of drama in performance development programmes.

With dual British and French nationalities, Phil is passionate about the importance of good communication in all areas of life and has a particular interest in diversity.

Specialisations
Phil Appleton specialises in developing confidence, assertiveness and presentation and impact skills. He has led a variety of roleplay-based management skills workshops for clients such as Barclays Wealth, The NHS and The Oxford University Press. He is also an expert in “forum theatre”, supported by a wide variety of work business experience in both multi-nationals and SMEs.

Professional
Phil Appleton began his training career in 1975 as a flying instructor and has also been an airline pilot, VIP handling agent, customer service manager and encyclopaedia salesman. He graduated from the “Just Do It” school of acting in 1994, followed by short courses at The Actor’s Centre and RADA.

In 2002, Phil trained in behaviour observation and feedback and has worked with over 50 different organisations in roleplay and coaching as far afield as Azerbaijan, New York and Hong Kong. He has studied NLP and has a post-graduate Diploma in Management Studies. Phil is attached to the Actor’s Centre in Business as an expert coach.
