Knowledge and Information Management, regulatory compliance, FoI, records management, portals, enterprise search
solutions, information classification and taxonomy design, communities of practice. Top level appointments in blue chip
companies and the public sector.
Stephen has over 23 years achievement working in both public and private sectors on a range of knowledge and information
management projects. He has a background in Information Management systems (EDRM, ECM) and enterprise search solutions
and the application of learning and shared knowledge techniques through Communities of Practice.
Stephen has completed several major Knowledge and Information Management projects for blue chip
clients, UK Gov and local government. He is presently developing a knowledge management strategy for local government at
the Improvement & Development Agency www.idea.gov.uk). He was
previously lead consultant for the procurement and deployment of Europe's largest enterprise search engine for the Dept.
for Work and Pensions. He has been engaged by the Cabinet Office to advise on Electronic Libraries and by the DTI as
Information Architect for their records management system.
Stephen Dale spent 9 years in the Royal Navy as Weapons Electrical Artificer before joining Sperry as a computer
engineer. He joined Reuters in 1983 where he specialised and data management and quality control, completing a BSc in
Information Systems in 1991. Stephen left Reuters in 1999 to set up his own company - Semantix, specializing in
information architecture and information management solutions.
