STEPHEN HOBBS

BSc Hons (Soton) Mechanical Engineering

Strategy, Change Management, Team Building, Coach and Facilitator

Combining a background in business ownership and management with 15 years as a project manager, consultant and facilitator, Stephen is experienced at working horizontally and vertically within an organisation and across a spectrum of activities ranging from strategy development to facilitating effective collaborative relationships. He is a Director at The Working Knowledge Group and has worked with SpokenWord since 2008.

SPECIALISATIONS

Stephen is experienced in the design and delivery of facilitated workshops and interventions for organisational improvement, unlocking strategic opportunities and solving complex organisational problems. This work supports and adds value to traditional consulting work using strategic ‘process’ interventions and sense-making processes.

Stephen uses world-class processes and tools which enable and challenge individuals and teams to make and implement appropriate decisions for them and their organisations.

PROFESSIONAL

An early career including engineering (Royal Navy, Ford Motor Company) and sales (Xerox) provides a breadth of experience deepened by 10 years of entrepreneurial activity including investments in retailing, publishing, property development and printing.

The last fifteen years has seen Stephen acting in a ‘change agent’ role. As well as facilitating activity in a general commercial environment, Stephen has experience of facilitating ‘commercial alliances’ and supporting and facilitating activity in public/private/non-profit partnerships and other collaborative arrangements. This work has often included activities of an interim management nature, including coordinating teams and managing budgets.

Stephen has worked with many different organisations across the public and private sectors including The Environment Agency, Atkins Design and Engineering Services, Organon Pharmaceuticals, East Midlands Development Agency, Government Office for East Midlands, Turku School of Economics and Business Administration (UK, Finland, Belgium), Pindar plc, One City Partnership, The Connexions Service, ENABLE, DataArt.
